Wat Rong Khun — the White Temple — is Chalermchai Kositpipat's mirror-white contemporary vision of Buddhist cosmology. Baan Dam, the Black House, is its dark twin: teak halls filled with bone, horn and hide by the late Thawan Duchanee.
Between them, Wat Rong Suea Ten glows sapphire blue around a pearl-white Buddha. It is roughly three hours each way, so we leave early and travel comfortably.
